Dr Wong graduated near the top of his year with an Honours degree from the University of Leicester Medical School in 2001, being awarded the Tressider Prize for Anatomy for his year.
He then pursued numerous postgraduate examins and became a GP in 2006 when he became curious about other ways of making people better which first led him to Acupuncture and looking at pain and medical conditions from a different perspective. He then subsequently pursued training in NLP and Hypnosis and numerous other modalities in Health and Healing.
With regards to Acupuncture, he has led a University Special Study Unit for Medical Students since 2012. He has spoken both nationally and internationally about Acupuncture, Social Prescribing, and Integrative Health, as well as treating thousands of patients over his more than 10 years of GP experience.
He is a GP Partner at the Westbank Practice and practices in both the Starcross and Exminster branches of the Practice.
The aim of each consultation with Dr Wong is to not have to see you with your problem again and deal with it in as few sessions as possible.
Dr Wong tends to treat those conditions he believes will lead to the best outcomes, hence a pre-assessment via telephone is often preferred. The best treated conditions are headaches/ migraines (NICE guidance), and pain conditions.
For a Consultation, please contact Dr Wong at his surgery on
01392 833230 (mention PRIVATE ACUPUNCTURE, and the reception staff will take your number and details so that he can call you back)
All new Consultations require a telephone assessment first to see if Dr Wong can provide the best and most appropriate care for you. This may mean he will recommend a more appropriate treatment or practitioner for your needs.
Costs for a face-to-face consultation after, are from 60 pounds a session lasting 20-30 mins. This is for both New and Follow up sessions.
There is no evidence-based benefit of the effect of acupuncture related to how long the needles are in. Some treatments take seconds, others minutes. Overall, it is very safe and effective, provided it is used in the right hands, for the right condition, and for the right patient.
